Operating a fleet of John Deere tractors ranging from 200 to 650hp you will work within a team of 4 to help carry out all activities on the farm throughout the farming calendar. During the winter we focus on machinery & estate maintenance; this involves putting all our equipment through the workshop and carrying out ditching, hedge planting and hedge cutting. We also stockpile 5000t of compost ready for spreading during harvest.

The busy spring period involves fertiliser application using our KUHN AGT 6036, land drainage using our own trenching equipment and cultivations & drilling for the 300ha of sugar beet and soya. Depending on the rotation we also irrigate sugar beet and, in extreme circumstances, some of our cereal area.

For the harvest & drilling campaign you will be involved with the primary cultivations and drilling operations working closely with the other member of the cultivation team using Lemken & Vaderstad equipment.

You will have specific responsibilities at each stage of the farming calendar and will be part of the whole process from planning to delivery during your placement term.

This position requires attention to detail and the natural desire to achieve exacting standards in challenging conditions. You will need to be able to work both autonomously and within a small team during both quiet and busy times of year to make the most of every opportunity the weather hands us.

In return we offer competitive rates of pay, tailored individual training & development packages and the opportunity to be involved with the mechanics of a large, progressive farming operation.
